‘Faking It’ season 2, episode 7 review: Amy, Karma, and an awkward ‘group hang’
Let this be a lesson to everyone: Never attend anything that is referred to as a “group hang.” If you do, almost nine times out of ten it is going to be incredibly awkward, and not anywhere near as much fun as it really should be.
This is what happened to the characters on Tuesday night’s “Faking It,” but it did produce probably the best episode since the very beginning of season 2. All of the characters were in the same orbit, which allowed the house of cards Amy has built to slowly come crashing down.
By the time this dinner party was over, almost everything was clear … at least to Amy’s new girlfriend Reagan. Karma acted extremely territorial throughout the entire night, which to us was at least a feeling that she has at least some feelings for her, at least in that she wanted to prove herself as Amy’s best friend in the entire world.
Somehow, Reagan managed to forgive her over everything that she heard throughout the night, which must not have been easy. Meanwhile, Lauren used Shane’s “date” (still in the closet) to make Theo jealous, and things started to be closer to official there.
The irony for Karma is that in trying to insert herself into Amy’s relationship, she majorly damaged her own as Liam started to wonder whether or not she really wanted to be with him at all, or was just holding onto feelings towards her. From start to finish, there was a good bit of emotional complexity that we haven’t seen most of the season. Oh, and there was good comedy throughout. Grade: B+.
