‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 5 spoilers: Emily Bett Rickards on current state of Oliver, Felicity
If you are a Felicity fan, Wednesday night’s “Arrow” episode is appointment viewing. As in, you’re going to want to make dinner beforehand and glue yourself to the couch. Don’t bother moving for 60 minutes. You’ll not only see her mother, but find out about her past at MIT, and just how valuable she is to the team in the present.
The only thing that you may not see in this episode is much in the way of news when it comes to Oliver and Felicity’s relationship. The two started things off this season with a date, but it wasn’t too long after that Oliver decided that he really couldn’t be with her again. Frustrating, no?
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Emily Bett Rickards did at least give Olicity ‘shippers a little bit of hope with a message about how the two characters do feel about each other:
“They are so much more than friends, but they’re not a couple. They’re not in a relationship, but they’re in a relationship all the time. They care really deeply for each other on more than just a platonic level. There’s a deep love there. There’s a very deep emotional connection you don’t really get with everyone. It’s special. It should be treasured, but it’s also scary and a little inconvenient.”
There is another relationship that may be on Felicity’s mind a little sooner than Oliver, and that is Ray Palmer. Brandon Routh’s character and her are growing closer, and we know already that an upcoming episode will feature him trying to take her on a date. He’s already shown that he treats her really well, and was even willing to give her an enormous office at the new Queen consolidated.
