‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4, episode 6 review: Who is Helga? Plus, Belle and Rumpelstiltskin’s story

Belle -Sunday night’s new episode of “Once Upon a Time” was entitled “Family Business,” but what it really should have been entitled at times was “Belle’s Business.” After all, almost the entirety of this episode was spent on Emilie de Ravin’s character, and the decision that she made in regards to Anna that she kept from everyone.

Was this out of character for her to do this? Maybe, but we understand how shame was the primary motivation here. She did not want anyone to think that she was capable of lying to this degree, and that is definitely understandable. After all, she just wanted everyone to be on her side, and she wanted to take care of saving Elsa’s sister without anyone else worrying about her.

What we ended up learning over the course of this episode was quite a bit. For one, we found out that Anna’s mother actually had two sisters in Helga and Ingrid. One of them in the latter was the Snow Queen, and the latter is still … somewhat of a mystery.

The endgame here for this character is something that we are still very much trying to understand, and for the time being we really don’t. We do at least seem to know the endgame for this character for the time being, and this revolves very much around whether or not she wants to form some new, bizarro family with herself, Emma, and Elsa. Ultimately, her motives make this a little bit confusing, and muddle what was an interesting episode that was otherwise full of great moments and deception. Grade: B.
