‘The Newsroom’ season 3 spoilers: Is a Jim love triangle ahead?
Despite a show that seems to be on the surface mostly about news, “The Newsroom,” has quite a few romances that go on behind the scenes. Will and Mackenzie are the ones that took the biggest leap forward at the end of season 2 (in the form of their engagement), while Sloan and Don at least made it look close to official that they are going to date.
So what about Jim and Maggie? Well, they ended in a tough spot in season 2, given that Maggie was still breaking down over here trip to Africa. Meanwhile, Jim had a new love interest in Hallie, and he was casting his attention there following his decision to join the not-so-fun Mitt Romney party bus.
According to TVLine, there is at least one reason to be hopeful about the two parties and their future going into the third season: Maggie has started to pull things together at the time of the premiere, and is letting the past stay at least stay somewhat in the past. The problem that does come along with this, though, is that Jim and Hallie are very much still in a relationship, and Jim, while he may notice Maggie, could be very devoted to her.
In the end, it would take something big happening to Jim and his girlfriend to push him closer to Maggie, and then the two hitting it off. It’s possible that they work it out, but remember here: There are only six episodes left. That’s not an enormous amount of time.
