‘Longmire’ season 4 notes: On Craig Johnson, show’s impact, next stampede

Longmire -With this being another quiet weekend in “Longmire” country, we’re going to once again bring you some assorted highlights from around the internet, beginning with the news about the next social-media stampede.

The date for this one is Monday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern (6:00 p.m. on the West Coast), and the hashtag to use this time in #MoreLongmire. It is advisable that you do not use the hashtag before then, though. Part of the trick to getting something to trend is that it is something that comes out of nowhere; this is how #Longmire4 trended last time. (Before the stampede, we suggest going with #LongLiveLongmire, which is the standard one these days.)

In other news, we turn to the latest promotional interview that author Craig Johnson has done for his new short story collection Wait for Signs, which is a nice way to get a bunch of Walt Longmire tales written over the years together into one book.

In speaking to the Denver Post, Johnson was asked what impact that cancellation of the show was having on his work, and if his books were getting more attention than ever. His response seemed to suggest so:

“Oh, gosh yeah, it’s having a large-scale effect. But we are still kind of reeling. The show was pulling in 6 million viewers a night and was being shown in over 150 countries. You just have to wonder about the blatant stupidity of the network. As for the show itself, you couldn’t work with a better group of people. You hear all sorts of horror stories about Hollywood and how they deal with authors. But in this case, everyone was just great.”

Johnson’s book is out now, and you can order it on Amazon right now at the link here.
