‘Justified’ season 6: Walton Goggins reflects on Boyd’s story
Want to see what is coming up on the final season of “Justified”? We are totally right there with you! Unfortunately, the folks at FX and the show’s stars are not saying a whole lot, unless of course it revolves around being reflective.
Entertainment Weekly has the first promo for the new season, which in many ways reminds us of the legacy of the series. Boyd Crowder was originally not meant to last longer than the pilot, but he ended up becoming one of the most captivating people on the entire series.
In this story, Walton Goggins reflected somewhat on what makes this show work so effectively, and how Raylan and Boyd are in a bizarre way tied to each other:
“This story is about these two people that came from a very similar set of circumstances, but one went this way and one went the other way, and yet, they’re more similar than either one of them cares to admit. That’s really interesting … When you’re making a show about a small town in America, with that comes a lot of history, and what better way to serve the protagonist than to have a person that has known him since the beginning and knows his secrets, knows him that intimately. They did their testing, and they talked about it, and they came back and said, ‘Would you stay?,’ and I jumped at the chance. I just wanted to know where the story went as much as they did. So it was very organic: [Timothy Olyphant] saying, ‘Let’s see what happens to these two people,’ and it was intriguing enough to me that I couldn’t say no, and I’m the better man for it.”
This role not only has led to critical acclaim for Walton, but it also makes us so much more excited about what could lie ahead in his career once it is over.
