‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: Clearly, fans want to be extras in Spain

Game of Thrones -What happens when you put out an open call for extras on “Game of Thrones“? Basically, you get a whole lot of work for the casting department.

While in Spain, the series and the production company put out a call for 600 extras for a particularly large fight scene. How big was the response? Well, Entertainment Weekly reports that more than 80,000 responded to the call, and they included everyone from people looking for paid work in the field to professionals who took time off of work to claim they were a part of the phenomenon. The response was so big that it had an impact on servers for the casting call.

We understand the appeal of being a part of this particular show, especially in Spain. It’s a very-populated country, and one of the most prominent places that the series has filmed to date. To go along with that, it also adds the extra pressure of being a place that the show has not filmed before. Therefore, you have people wanting to get a glimpse of the action for the first time. While it may still be exciting in Northern Ireland and in Dubrovnik, Croatia, to be a part of production for the series, at the same time they are all a little more used to this than the people in Spain are. This country is being used for many of the settings considered to be a part of Dorne.

There’s no premiere date for “Game of Thrones” just yet, but you should expect it in the spring of 2015.
