‘Homeland’ season 4, episode 5 preview: Carrie tries to question Aayan
To quote The Who, there is a very “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” feel to “Homeland” season 4 at the moment, at least when it comes to the way that Carrie is doing business.
For the first two seasons especially, her primary goal was to acquire information about Nicholas Brody as a result of the two having a close relationship, which is precisely what is happening this time around with Aayan. We were first completely on board with this season, but we’re a little more unsure now that we see things going in this direction. Then again, we understand what she is doing from a strategic point of view. Seduction is a valuable way of extracting information, and she knows that she happens to be rather good at it. Why not take advantage of some of the skills that you bring to the table?
Specifically, the subject of this sneak peek below is about whether or not there is something amiss with Aayan’s uncle, and if he could still be alive. Also, Carrie even questions that maybe he knew that the attack was coming, and he still did not say anything about it in the process. Suffice it to say, this is not met with a particularly wonderful response. Aayan is upset about the insinuation, and Carrie has to back away and potentially think about a different tactic to employ if she wants to get to him.
