‘The Newsroom’ season 3 video: The journey for Dev Patel’s Neal

Over the past couple of weeks, HBO has started to roll out what we think is a pretty smart marketing strategy for the third season of “The Newsroom.” Rather than just showing trailers or teaser promos a la “American Horror Story,” what we have here is something a little different.

The show has been releasing a series of different character highlights over the past several weeks, with each video showcasing some of the best moments from seasons 1 and 2. For the particular video that we have for you below, the character we are talking about here in particular is Neal, played of course by Dev Patel. There are some funny quips in here, and a few good moments where you really start to see some of his ambition. (Yes, there is also that crazy Bigfoot storyline from season 1 thrown into this.)

So moving forward into the third season, what we can say is that Patel is going to have a ton of good material, as his character is front and center for a government-oriented plot that could have him behind bars due to a source that the powers-that-be are desperate to uncover. Given that there are only six episodes in this final season, we have to hope that HBO and Aaron Sorkin figure out a way to really make this story jam-packed and full of excitement in whatever time they have.
