‘The Newsroom’ season 3 spoilers: Ratings anxiety within ACN

What happens when a scandal causes your entire network to pretty much fall apart at the seams? Well, let’s just say that it may cause you to grow a little more hesitant on the way in which you report the news.

According to a new report coming in right now from TV Guide, one of the reasons we’re going to see ACN, home network to “News Night” on HBO’s “The Newsroom,” in a state of panic during the early going of season 3 is for one simple reason: Operation Genoa. The way in which the network got the entire story wrong, and quickly became a laughingstock for many of their rivals, is causing them to be hesitant when it comes to some of their other reporting. The event at the center of the premiere is the Boston Marathon bombing, and the entire team waits to report before they make sure all of the facts are 130% accurate. Because of that, they are beaten to the punch by all of their rivals, and find themselves in an uncomfortable position of dead last.

How will the network get out of this bind? Basically, they have to figure out another way of delivering one big story after another to get the trust of viewers back. This is something that probably will not even happen after they break a big story at “News Night.” This is a process, and patience is the key.

Of course, this may be a little bit complicated due to the simple notion that maybe there is not going to be a whole lot of time for patience, especially when there are some jobs potentially on the line. There always is in this world.
