‘Silicon Valley’ season 2 spoilers: Meet the newest series regular
The second season of “Silicon Valley” is coming next year, and we’re glad to finally have something new to report when it comes to the story!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy O. Yang, who played the part of hacker Jian Yang in three episodes of the HBO hit, has been promoted to series regular. This means that the team at Pied Piper could have another value asset at their disposal as they try to continue pressing forward with their compression business. At the end of the first season, the team managed to completely blow off the roof at a tech convention using what was basically a last-ditch revelation that was found in the middle of a joke about a certain part of the male anatomy.
When you consider the strength of the story, as well as Thomas Middleditch as the lead, expectations are high for “Silicon Valley” moving forward. Plus, it’s a comedy that HBO probably needs right now. “Girls” sagged in a big way creatively during its third season, and while “Veep” is a critical and awards darling, it doesn’t draw ratings that are through the roof. “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is the last HBO comedy that we genuinely considered to be a runaway hit commercially.
There’s no premiere date yet for the new season, but it would certainly make sense to run the show yet again after “Game of Thrones.” Why fix something that isn’t broken? It’s also done better than any other series that has followed the show since it first premiered a few years ago.
We’ll have some further updates when it comes to the show soon, so stay tuned.
