‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ episode 5 review: Eat your rice (just don’t eat too much)
By and large, we love the drama that comes with a tribal swap. However, at the same time what we didn’t love on Wednesday’s “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” episode was having to spend watching Jon and Jaclyn get all kissy-face with each other. We don’t watch this show for PDA!
The strange thing about the swap was how things ultimately came about. These two were on the same tribe with Dale & Kelley and Baylor & Missy, which meant that Keith was left completely out in the open. Meanwhile, the only pair on the new Hunahpu were Josh & Reed, and they were surrounded by a bunch of people whose loved ones were voted out, plus Wes. Also, there was another twist in that the old version of the tribe seemed to eat most of the rice.
Who was the culprit here? It seems to be Drew that ate a ton of the rice, but we saw on the new Coyopa that Missi had no problem cooking up a ton of food very quickly. This was the most play rice has had in an episode since Crystal Cox was on the scene (hence the reference in the title). Hunahpu won immunity, but they’ll have a price to pay for the rice soon.
What was hilarious is that Keith did absolutely nothing, but somehow found himself in a very good position with an immunity idol to boot. The entire vote came down to what Jon and Jaclyn wanted to do. They had to choose between two different couples. We would’ve went with Dale and Kelley, mostly because they don’t have a rice problem and, unlike Baylor, haven’t screwed up Jaclyn’s game before.
The biggest surprise here is that instead of getting rid of Dale, who probably is more of a liability in challenges, the tribe got rid of Kelley! This was a questionable move all around, since she seemed to be a pretty good contributor.
Yet, we’re still interested in Baylor and her bizarre edit this season. Despite her misgivings, she’s gotten a little bit of a hero edit. This wasn’t the best episode, but we are still invested in the season. Grade: B-.

I would have went with dale and his daughter. I don’t like Missy.
