‘Criminal Minds’ season 10, episode 4 review: Bugs, drugs and the creepy crawlies
Last week on “Criminal Minds” we had a chance to get to know the newest member of the team a little bit better when a plane crash case hits a little too close to home. We are of course talking about Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character of Kate Callahan! Her sister and brother were both at the pentagon when the 9/11 attacks hit and didn’t make it out alive. She and her husband Chris took in her sister’s little girl to live with them (a 13 year old named Meg) and even though quite a bit of time has passed since her siblings passed away, it is an event that will always haunt Kate.
The case of the week involves a reporter that throws himself in front of a car when he “goes crazy” thinking there are bugs under his skin. So why is our team investigating what looks like a suicide/accident? As it turns out there is a man that is torturing reporters, scientists and anyone he can that will believe him. He thinks that there is are bugs crawling under his skin and wants relief from it (wants them to believe what he’s telling them instead of thinking that he is crazy), so he is making his victims feel what he feels. Watching the victims tied up and immersed in bugs will give us creepy crawlie dreams tonight for sure. Also seeing a cameo from Francois Chau playing a doctor again was super good (we are huge “Lost” fans here at CarterMatt).
We were hoping to learn a little bit more about Kate this episode, but obviously the masterminds behind the show don’t want to give us too much of a good thing too soon. They have left us intrigued and wanting more on this character, so well done CBS! Episode grade: C-
