‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 spoilers: On plans write Bellamy Young out of story
Want to know how rarely “Criminal Minds” touches on the personal lives of some of its characters? Well, it’s going to be midseason when it is finally addressed just what is going on when it comes to Hotch and Beth, and this has been more than a year in the making.
The last time that Bellamy Young appeared on the show was during the season 8 finale, but she has another gig now in “Scandal” that is extremely high-profile, and also keeps her schedule pretty packed. Therefore, it’s pretty assured that she’s not going to be a part of the story, and executive producer Erica Messer tells TV Guide that one of the reasons for the delay is wanting to ensure that the story is done right:
“We want to address that long-distance relationship and do it right … We’re not going to have Bellamy as long as she’s the First Lady, so we want to have it make sense for Hotch when he deals with it.”
Ultimately, it doesn’t appear as though “Scandal” is going to be ending anytime soon, but you could actually say the same thing about “Criminal Minds” at the moment. It remains a pretty consistent performer in the ratings for CBS, and therefore, there is not necessarily a huge reason to close the chapter on this story unless someone wants to see it off.
As for what we want to see happen for Thomas Gibson’s character moving forward, the biggest thing we can hope for is a love interest who can actually surface a little more often in the story.

Emily Prentiss. She’s the only one that understands his passion for the job. Period.

I would first like to see Reid finally find some happiness on the show. He needs a woman who will last longer than a few episodes.
As for Hotch, why does he need to feel the need to immediately jump into another relationship? How about showing him spending more time with his son? What a novel idea.

I’m not a big fan of “love interests” on this type of show. It’s not what attracted me in the first place and has kept me a loyal fan for 10 seasons. If the writers insist on it, let’s do some “homework” beforehand and choose an actress who plays well off of Thomas Gibson (Is Jenna Elfman available?). I know Haley could be a nudge, but Meredith Monroe had incredible chemistry with TG. Hotch never looked at Beth the way he looked at Haley. I would love to have seen Hotch and Haley work through their problems and find the way back to each other. If we are granting wishes today, I would like to put a hold on the love interest crappola and see Hotch interact more with Jack. Cade Owens (Jack) is obviously growing up which opens the door to all kinds of issues for Hotch.
