‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 5 video: Mariska Hargitay, cast’s latest case

Law & Order: SVU logoAt this point sixteen seasons into “Law & Order: SVU,” can there really be anything that surprises Olivia Benson and the team? We have a hard time believing it. Mariska Hargitay and the cast have taken on many a difficult case, and that is coming to happen again on next week’s new episode due to a variety of complications.

Just due to the subject matter alone, this is probably one of the more risque cases that the show has aired given that an adult industry is at the very center of it. A young woman claims to be the victim of rape, but given her profession and other circumstances in the state of New Hampshire, the team fears that this may be a “he said, she said” case where there is not any real evidence to validate her claims.

Luckily, there may be something that Rollins (Kelli Giddish) uncovered that could prove to be incredibly valuable to the case: A video that may have been taken showing the whole encounter. The fact that this was not brought up with Benson before the briefing suggests a little bit of discord, but that cannot surprise us too much based on the current storylines.

As most of you #SVUDiehards know, we are at a very difficult moment in Benson’s life. The SVU and the NYPD of course have certain expectations of her as a Sergeant, but at the same time there are expectations of her as a foster mother for baby Noah. The longer that Peter Gallagher’s character at the department stays around, the more trouble we predict comes her way.
