ABC orders more scripts for ‘Selfie,’ ‘Manhattan Love Story’
Well, you can file this one under “things we did not see coming.”
Per a new report from Deadline, ABC has decided to pick up three more scripts for their freshmen series “Selfie” and “Manhattan Love Story,” which means that there will be in total 16 scripts for them out there. With this being said, there is still no confirmation that this will lead to any of them getting these three extra episodes made. It is more of a move where the network just wants to see what sort of material that they have to work with moving forward.
Person, we do feel like there is a slight chance that “Selfie” could last for the full season, mostly because it is a show that is probably better than either its title or its pretty-awful pilot episode indicates. There are good people involved, and the comedy has improved by leaps and bounds since the first season on the show.
As for “Manhattan Love Story,” we basically feel like this show is going to have a near-impossible time staying on the air, mostly because its ratings are lower, and it also happens to be not particularly good. The premise is so tiring, and there is not even anything about the writing that makes us think that this is now the sort of thing that would really sustain longer than just a few episodes.
Anyway, think of this news mostly as ABC potentially trying to keep the shows around until midseason. Since we’re talking about just three scripts here versus a full back nine, you cannot read anything more into it beyond that.
