‘The Good Wife’ season 6 spoilers: Archie Panjabi to exit, star in potential drama

CBS -How about this for a shocker when it comes to “The Good Wife“? One year after losing Josh Charles as a major part of the cast, the CBS drama will also be saying goodbye to Archie Panjabi at the end of this current season. The Emmy winner is instead, per Deadline, going to take a development deal over at 20th Century Fox TV, which could lead to her headlining her own drama. Something could be filmed for it with the spring, and a project would be in contention for the 2015-16 TV season.

In a statement confirming the news, “The Good Wife” creators Robert and Michelle King had the following to say:

“Archie is an amazing actress who helped build Kalinda from the ground up as an enigmatic, powerful, and sexy character … It’s been a pleasure to write for her, and we’ll be sad to see her go; but we still have her for the rest of Season 6, so let’s not exhaust our good-byes yet.”

We would be remiss to say that Kalinda’s story has been going strong throughout the entire run of the series, mostly because it hasn’t. ever since the whole Nick fiasco the character has been somewhat marginalized, and hasn’t had that much in the way of interesting stuff to do on the show. It seems for the best that Panjabi take her considerable talents elsewhere, while for “The Good Wife” this may be a good behind-the-scenes benefit in that it trims some of the show’s cost. While it does get tremendous critical acclaim, the ratings are not particularly great, and shows tend to cost more the longer that they last.
