‘NCIS’ season 12, episode 4 preview: Is there a Ziva reference in new sneak peek?
Is there more to the “NCIS” sneak peek below than first meets the eye? We wonder. If nothing else, there may at least be something in here that Tony / Ziva fans may interpret as pertaining to the couple.
First, let’s set up the scene. McGee is reading a men’s magazine, one that apparently has a list of various sexual positions and activities. Somehow, this leads to Tony looking at this list himself, and after a little coaching, starts to open up about some of them. Specifically, he mentions something happening in France when it comes to #6, also saying it was “long ago.”
Is this the definitive proof that Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo’s characters slept together back in that 2010 episode? We feel like that is open for interpretation still, much as it was when the episode first aired. All we really know is that they shared a hotel room together, and there were definitely at least flirtatious moments. We like that there has always been some ambiguity when it comes to what happened there, and we almost never mind if this mystery never gets resolved. We do know that Tony has been to France without Ziva plenty, so this line was probably written with that in mind.
Still, what we’d really want more than anything else is to see Ziva back on the show someday, and while we still think it’s possible, there’s nothing to report right now while she films “The Dovekeepers.”
Instead, all we have is this sneak peek, and Bishop eventually comes in to tell Tony and McGee that she has much more “experience” than either one of them.

Wait. People are watching that scene and thinking (a) it’s about TIVA and (b) Tony is being serious? OH MY GOD. My guess is that the people who are so up in arms that they’re sending e-mails to Nina Tassler about it (SMH) are not seeing those lines performed in context of the scene. All you have to do is hear Tony put on his “storytelling” voice like he does every time he spins a DiNozzo tall tale for McGee to know that it has nothing to do with Ziva, nothing to do with sex and nothing to do with being true. Goodness, Ziva-people. Take a breath.
And Matt Carter … like Lisa, I’m wondering … when you say “what we’d really want more than anything else is to see Ziva back on the show someday”, who are you speaking for? I’ve always thought part of your mission was to remain objective. You must realize that there are also readers who don’t “really want more than anything else” to have Ziva return. Right?

Let’s get one thing straight. YOU want to see Ziva back, not WE (unless you’ve taken to referring to yourself as the royal “we”…). Many fans, myself included, don’t really care to see her back, and are so tired of all the shameless Ziva/Tiva pandering that keeps happening more than a year after she left.
I like Cote de Pablo. I’m glad she has moved on to doing what she wants with her career and her life, and I wish her the best of luck. Both of her new projects look interesting, and I will probably watch them. Why can’t some of her fans be happy for her, rather than implying all she should ever play is Ziva? Why has no one asked Cote de Pablo what she wants to do and, if they have, why has she said nothing about her desire to return save for the one article that came out almost 18 months ago, right after her decision was announced?

Tony said it was a long time ago in France and Jet Gag wasn’t that long ago. I guess tptb are just sleazily trying to lure tiva/Ziva fans and don’t care one iota if they sacrifice letting Tony evolve to do so. They obviously haven’t cared for many seasons now if they held Tony hostage to Ziva or to making other characters look superior by turning him into the team idiot. It’s so sad to see what they’ve done to this formerly really cool character just so they could flatter and push there favorites forward.
