‘The Originals’ season 2, episode 2 video: Klaus chides Elijah over Hayley

Monday night’s “The Originals” has many storylines that will rise to the surface in a short amount of time, but for the time being, none appears more notable than watching Klaus try to persuade his own brother that Hayley is no longer the woman he once clinged so close to.

With her now as a hybrid, she is a woman who has many new passions and thirsts, and many of them have caused her to tune out some of the most recognizable parts of her personality. Specifically, Joseph Morgan’s character points out here a certain moment where Hayley was smiling ear to ear after doing something rather gruesome.

Klaus may be a realist in so many ways, but he’s also a pessimist at the same time. When you live for centuries upon centuries, eventually you probably do come to expect a certain way in which people operate. He has seen enough other people like Hayley to think that this is the new version of her now, and Elijah is wasting his time by trying to cling to her / protect her.

Is he really, though? That is what we are very curious to figure out. We don’t want to label her as yet another fixture from the past, a woman unable to change due to the devastating circumstances that have come in her direction. Doing so would come as a massive short-changing of everything that she has done on the series to this point.

Unfortunately, we may not know who the real Hayley is for some time still, but we are still very much intrigued on seeing the remainder of her story develop moving forward.
