‘The X Factor’ UK results: Were Blonde Electra, Overload Generation, Stephanie Nala eliminated?
Tonight, the first results show on “The X Factor” UK had the potential to give us a big shocker. When you have 16 acts, it is very easy for a pretty-good-but-not-great act to be eliminated while some mediocre ones survive thanks to their personality or controversy.
It was with this in mind that we went into tonight’s results show assuming that someone like Stevi Ritchie would be safe, while acts that are more talented are in danger. The only real camp act we thought would be in trouble is Blonde Electra. Nobody really seems to like them on the same level of Stevi, even if, per our review last night, they weren’t terrible.
Before we got to the results, we had performances! The group number was surprisingly good, while Pharrell Williams sang something that wasn’t happy (but we love how gracious he is with his backing band and dancers). Taylor Swift, regardless of whatever the haters “say say say” (sorry, quoting her song), was actually pretty fun.
As the list of artists being saved by the public vote rattled on, there were hardly many surprises. The moment Stevi realized he was saved, Louis Walsh looked terrified.
We were left as a bottom three Blonde Electra, Overload Generation, and Stephanie Nala, and the voters … did the right thing? The truth is here that we thought Blonde Electra were fun, but they just weren’t likable in the same silly way as Stevi. If you’re going to be campy, you need to be impossibly charming to make up for it. This left us with the following two acts.
Overload Generation – We hate the name, but we’re shocked to see them here given their Twitter following. There were a lot of tuning issues in here! Not a showing that you want for a wild card act in the sing-off.
Stephanie Nala – We should’ve saw this coming based on the bookies. However, we thought Luminites had a following! This wasn’t a good performance, either, and this coupled with last night have her confidence in the toilet.
Right now, we’d keep Overload. They’re not great, but we feel like they have the drive to get better right now. That stands for something. The vote was interesting, given that it came down to a tie. We thought the judges would send the boys home, mostly because they’ve already done that once before.
In the end, Stephanie was saved by the public, which we’re happy with mostly because we like to see the bookies lose. She’s not going to win, but there is probably a chance for her to bounce back from this. Louis’ groups this season are probably toast.
