‘Saturday Night Live’: Jim Carrey to host, Iggy Azalea to perform October 25

SNL -As is traditionally the case with “Saturday Night Live,” the NBC show is following up the first three weeks of shows with a little bit of a hiatus. This is an opportunity to give some of the writers and performers a chance to regroup, and then prepare for what should be a seriously funny show a little later. At this point, they are in a little more of a groove.

So who is next on the hosting slate? The show announced tonight that it will be … Jim Carrey! This is not the first time that he has hosted the show, but it is the first time in a few years. This was also something that was hinted at before the season even started, though a specific date was not given at the time.

Why is the timing right for Jim? Well, he wants to promote his upcoming “Dumb and Dumber To” movie, which means that we could see a Jeff Daniels cameo in here. We can only hope so, given how much we love the star of “The Newsroom.”

As for musical guest, Iggy Azalea will be making her first appearance. Her coming on the show is not a shock at all, though, given how fast her star has exploded the past few months. “Fancy” was her breakout hit, but that song is so old now, we doubt she will perform it on the show. Instead, she will probably have some new material at the ready for the show.

What do you think about the choice? Share right now with a comment, and head over here for some further scoop! That’s where we will also have our reviews for tonight’s show (plus musical guest Hozier) a little later. You can also sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter to get TV updates via email.
