‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Nyssa returns, Ra’s al Ghul arrives in ‘The Magician’
The title is in many ways a reference to Ra’s al Ghul, and this will mark the first arrival of this character within the world of the show. We knew that this was going to be coming up, and it happens after his daughter Nyssa returns to Starling City, and in the process makes it extraordinarily clear that she is angry with Oliver over the loss of her former lover Sara Lance. Granted, this wasn’t actually Oliver’s fault, but we’re not too shocked to see her just acting out at anyone and everyone given the situation. We can only imagine the difficult y that comes with this.
Take a look at the synopsis below, which contains plenty of information about the return of Malcolm Merlyn and speculation that he was in some way responsible for Sara’s death:
“A furious Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) confronts Oliver (Stephen Amell) about Sara. When Oliver learns Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) is alive, he suspects Merlyn killed Sara. Oliver and Nyssa join forces and go after the Dark Archer, intent on bringing Sara’s killer to justice. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) keeps her distance from Nyssa, as she blames her sister’s death on her involvement with the League of Assassins. Meanwhile, Oliver and Roy (Colton Haynes) work on repairing their respective relationships with Thea (Willa Holland), who has returned home. Nyssa discusses Oliver with her father, Ra’s al Ghul (guest star Matt Nable).”
Really, there is so much to like within the confines of this episode that we do not know where to even begin. You have first and foremost a pair of awesome villains, Oliver getting to team up with someone new for a change, and also the first appearance of a DC legend. The only thing that we are completely disinterested to see is more of Thea and Roy. The two are great separated, but also terrible apart.
