‘True Detective’ season 2 spoilers: How much does Colin Farrell know?
When in the world is “True Detective” going to premiere? That is a question that almost everyone wants to know. Heck, at this point we’re just as curious to know when it is actually going to film. This has been talked about since March, but still, production has not begun in California.
This is where we offer you what is at least a consolation as far as good news goes: At least some of the scripts are out there. Colin Farrell is promoting his new movie “Miss Julie” at the Chicago Internation Film Festival this week, and of course someone was going to ask him about this show. With that in mind, he had the following to say in regards for a progress report (per the Chicago Tribune):
“I’ve only read half of the eight episodes. It’s phenomenal writing, strong writing. It’s all there on the page. Nic Pizzolatto has done an incredible job creating this new world that is a separate time and separate place and has a completely new array of characters than the first season.”
In many ways, the wait is frustrating, given just how long we have waited to get some news on the show. Still, it’s a relief. If this was a lesser network, someone would probably have glued Pizzolatto to a desk and forced him to get the scripts ready for a new season immediately, just so season 2 could premiere in January. Clearly, that’s not happening. A more realistic estimate would be either summer in the “True Blood” spot, or fall in the position of “Boardwalk Empire.” Either way, this is enough time to make things great.
As you may or may not have heard, Vince Vaughn has already been confirmed to be the potential bad guy for the show … which is either going to be awesome or awful. We’re still not sure.
