‘Unforgettable’ canceled by CBS; ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ renewed for season 2
We’ve got a pair of stories today when it comes to shows you may enjoy, but ultimately, we’re talking about things that are on the opposite sides of the pendulum.
“Unforgettable” canceled – We begin where with the news that CBS has decided to pull the plug on the Poppy Montgomery series, which means that there will not be a season 4 airing at any point next year. Given the recent ratings, which included just a 1.0 for the finale, we are not too surprised by this. Heck, we’re surprised that it got a third season in the first place.
Do we hope that Montgomery does get another TV gig very soon? Definitely, and hopefully it will be something other than a CBS crime procedural. In between this and “Without a Trace,” she has probably done enough of this in her lifetime.
“Survivor’s Remorse” renewed – This is a very different sort of story. Despite the Starz comedy (which is executive-produced by LeBron James and others) getting off to a weak start in the ratings, the network has gone ahead and ordered a lengthier second season for the basketball series. The second run will consist of 10 installments versus six for season 1.
Then again, this is something that has become a staple of the network over the years. Rather than trying to judge a show based on the ratings for a single season, they like to see how they do when they have a little more time to flourish. This is also something that they’ve done with “Boss,” “Black Sails,” and others.
