ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Stephen Collins to be cut from upcoming episode
While we have not written about it too much here (we prefer to write more about hard TV news, and what happens on-camera), many of you may have heard about the horrific alleged admissions by former “7th Heaven” and “Revolution” star Stephen Collins earlier this week. In a leaked audiotape, it was revealed that he admitting to molesting young girls at some point during his past.
As you would expect when these sort of things are made public, it has a tremendous impact on all things that would have been coming up for the actor. He has already resigned from his position on the Screen Actors Guild, and per E! News, he will not be featured in an upcoming episode of “Scandal” and his scenes will have been cut. Collins had previously appeared in an episode of the ABC series, and he had also guest-starred on another Shonda Rhimes series in the past in “Private Practice.”
The real truth of the matter is that Collins will most likely never work another TV gig in the rest of his life, and while “Scandal” as a whole may be a show about powerful people having their problems handled by Olivia Pope, in real life it doesn’t quite work that way, especially when the charges against you are as serious as these. ABC is clearly making the correct decision here, since the last thing they should want is someone serving as a distraction to anything that they are doing or trying to put on the air.
When it comes to “Scandal,” you can preview Thursday night’s new episode further at the link here. As for Collins, we imagine that we probably will not have a whole lot to say about him in the future.
