‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ preview: John Rocker’s back to his trolling ways
Here is one thing that we have come to learn very well about “Survivor” over the years: You can ultimately only hide the person that you are for so long. Eventually, the heat and the hunger will get to you, and the walls start to come down.
Wednesday, this may finally happen to John Rocker, who seems interested in reverting back to his old, antagonistic ways. It seemingly begins below with him taunting the other tribe during the challenge, which is a questionable strategy given that these are people he could feasibly have to compete against at some point in the future.
Then, things seem to get worse as his history gets blown up to everyone in the game. At some point, Natalie provokes him by saying “who don’t you say something homophobic or racist,” and then proclaims that she is not scared of him. John is only one vote, and it makes sense that some would want to campaign against him.
At the same time, there is also a certain amount of logic to keeping him around if you want to be guaranteed a million bucks at the end … maybe. We feel like here that the biggest thing to fear with keeping Rocker is that eventually, you become such an antagonist yourself by keeping him that players turn against you, as well. You don’t want to be seen as the best friend of the guy hated by everyone. Maybe that is why this preview also shows Josh pondering a big move of his own.
What do you want to see take place on Wednesday’s episode, and do you really think that John could be so silly as to not play his immunity idol if he thinks that he is in danger?
