‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2: Could Robert Downey Jr. actually appear?

Agents of SHIELD -Today, Robert Downey Jr. gave passionate Marvel and “Agents of SHIELD” fans a reason to smile wide: He said that he is open to appearing on an upcoming episode of the show!

Downey’s comments came during a Reddit AMA promoting his new movie “The Judge,” saying that the ABC series is the one he would be most open to appearing on out of anything on TV right now. He did admit at the same time, though, that there would probably be a good bit of “red tape” that could keep such an appearance from happening. Marvel can be a complicated, many-headed beast sometimes. Plus, we imagine that a Tony Stark cameo comes with a Tony Stark-sized price tag.

Still, it is a cool thought to consider, and at this particular point in time, we really feel like it would be a good move for the show. We would’ve been opposed to it in season 1, if for no other reason than that we would not want the gravitas of Downey to actually overshadow everything else that is going on with the show. That is a risk you have to think about sometimes, especially since hyping the show up to be something it wasn’t may have been what got it in a little bit of trouble in the first place.

For those curious, this AMA made it clear to not entirely give up on a fourth “Iron Man” movie just yet.

What do you think: Could a Downey cameo make the series even cooler, or would that create so much hype, people would start clamoring for other cameos so much that it would hurt the show? Let us know now in the comments, and head over here to preview tonight’s new episode.
