One of the surprises for “The X Factor” UK this season was the show’s surprising treatment of Lizzy Pattinson. She received far less screen time than the average contestant who makes it this far in the competition, and that is regardless of who her brother happens to be.
Why was the decision made to send her? For Simon Cowell, it seemed to be a question of whether or not she was interesting enough, which we do pretty firmly dispute. Her story is certainly interesting, and the fact that we got so little of it on the show is frustrating.
With that in mind, we have to wonder whether or not she has a serious chance at being the wildcard act chosen from the Overs. Her competition? Helen Fulthorpe, who is probably too similar to Sam Bailey to be picked, and the silly Stevi Ritchie. If the judge picking this category (one not named Simon Cowell is rumored to be doing so) wants to go with serious music, she has to be the choice.
What makes us wonder, though, is that her Facebook page doesn’t mention getting another shot on the show at all. Instead, it is more of a reminder to keep a look out for some other music from her in the future:
“Thanks so much for the messages of support over the last few months. Wow! It has been an amazing experience – challenging and scary, but mostly great fun! Looking forward to bringing you some new songs soon … x”
Tell us: Should Lizzy advance to the next round, or do you think think the judges are just going to give someone like Stevi the spot for the camp quality of his performances? Let us know with a comment, and head over here to see some of the current favorites across all categories!
