‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6, episode 2 review: Hetty in court, NCIS under siege

NCIS Los AngelesLast week we saw things come to a head with Kensi and Talia on “NCIS: Los Angeles” resulting with Talia getting headbutted in the face by Kensi. This broke the ice between the two women and they ended up becoming friends, and even though Talia is gone (hopefully not for good), we expect that this experience will stick with Kensi. Will this be enough to push Kensi into exploring some of her feelings for Deeks or will she go right back into full out denial? Let’s see what happens this week.

Hetty is up against the council committee at her hearing in Washington to talk about Afghanistan, and she is trying to give honest answers without putting the agency at risk. She is asked why “Agent Blye” specifically, an NCIS agent from Los Angeles, was sent to Afghanistan rather then a navy seal or an army ranger. She responds by saying that Blye has something that no one else did: That she is a woman and that a woman could get people to talk easier then a man would (however that doesn’t really answer the question since there are army rangers and navy seals that are also women).

Hetty is asked about a German agent, (Cole), that she shot years back and they say that his wife matches her description. She says that she kept Cole as an asset under her custody before he was murdered by his own country, skating over the “wife” question.

The department of justice shows up at NCIS and everyone’s immediately on edge, and with good reason. A forensic audit of the facility and all employees has been ordered as well as interviews with everyone. It’s no coincidence that they have shown up to do this while Hetty is in Washington: They are looking for a way to poke holes in NCIS, and a way to take Hetty down.

The team tries to hide their agents from the interviews, but the department of justice threatens warrants if they don’t show up. They also try to cut the power, claiming that the building is old, but threats of bringing in generators means they won’t be slowed down. For now, no one at the agency has been interviewed… yet.

Oh and the case of the week has revealed that someone has paid $250,000 to find out where Hetty lives and it looks like someone is looking to kill her.

As for Kensi and Deeks may not be moving their relationship to a romantic level (seems complete denial is back in fashion), but we did see them wrestling in the gym and it’s about as physical as they are going to get. Hey, at least we are getting something from them… right?

After last week, we were hoping to see a little more movement with the Kensi and Deeks relationship since Kensi’s feelings for him would be right at the surface, but no such luck. It was entertaining though to watch Kensi beat out Deeks in the wrestling ring. Episode grade: B-
