‘Scorpion’ season 1, episode 3 preview: Rubik’s cubes and a ratings discussion
Will the “Scorpion” success story for CBS continue? We were surprised last week to see the show keep the majority of its premiere ratings, even though it no longer had the benefit of airing right after a new “Big Bang Theory” episode.
What does this mean to us? Basically that if the show keeps this tradition up for another episode or two, we anticipate this group of geniuses getting a full-season order. That bumps things up to 22, and we do feel like that could happen pretty easily. There’s not much in the way of similar competition on other networks, and that benefits it greatly.
The sneak peek below from Monday’s “A Cyclone” is hardly the most revealing thing in the world. As a matter of fact, it barely shows off anything other than what the team does while waiting to get their next assignment. They can do Rubik’s cubes far faster than anyone else we know, we will give them that first and foremost to be extremely happy about.
As for the rest of this episode? Let’s just say that Robert Patrick will continue to be awesome (what else did you expect?), and that the story will continue to emphasize action in a way that would make you excited. If we were to compare this to other CBS shows, it is almost like “NCIS: Los Angeles” meets “Numb3rs” meets “The Big Bang Theory.” Now, if only Katharine McPhee’s character had more to do…
