For all of those still following “American Idol” adamantly, we do have some further news to report today: When the next phase of the competition will officially begin!
Per a new report coming in now via Mjsbigblog, the next phase of the competition in Hollywood Week will kick off come October 25. The show has been filming for several months in various parts of the country, and Keith Urban has returned to America after spending time with Nicole Kidman mourning the death of her father in Australia.
We’re not going to spoil any of the singers who make it that far here, mostly because we feel like there are other places for that out there, and we also like to be genuinely surprised on a certain level by what happens. However, we feel like the Hollywood Week roster will be mostly familiar to anyone who has watched the show over the years. There will be some contestants on the list you remember very fondly from past seasons, but at the same time, there will also be some contestants that will feel fresh. A combination of the two will probably end up making it to the live shows.
Joining Keith again this year are Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr., and the only thing that we are really hoping from is that with “The X Factor” now gone from American TV, maybe we will actually have a little bit of an opportunity to have more viewers over on the singing show that started the trend again. Viewer burnout had become a serious thing.
The one positive for “American Idol”? The ratings elsewhere on Fox are so terrible that it may look good by comparison.
