Is ‘Outlander’ new tonight? When the series returns to Starz; why the split?
Tonight, there will be some new programming on Starz in the form of “Survivor’s Remorse.” However, you may be feeling a little bit remorseful that there is not another fan favorite show in “Outlander” to look forward to.
As many noted who watched the show live last week, and as many promos have suggested, you are going to have to wait until Saturday, April 4 to see what else happens as the show closes out its first season with eight more episodes. With that in mind, we wouldn’t blame you if you decided to ponder another question in the process: Is it possible at all that Starz regrets making this decision?
We understand why you would think so. This series has already become its biggest hit since the end of the “Spartacus” franchise, and it brings attention and subscribers who are not in their typical demographic. Many of their other shows, after all, tend to be on the surface geared more towards men.
However, the benefit in the delay is that this does allow for an opportunity for other viewers to catch up on the series, and to get hooked on them a little after the fact. A good comparison here could be AMC and “The Walking Dead.” The first season was only six episodes, and after seeing the ratings, many wondered if the network under-sold the show’s ability to be a commercial smash. However, that long wait gave more the chance to check it out, and season 2 completely smashed all the records from season 1. Hopefully, these final eight “Outlander” episodes will do the same.

I’m not happy about this split – it’s a long enough pause that some fans may lose interest
