NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 7: Taylor Swift confirmed as Battle Rounds mentor

The Voice -Weeks ago, the news first broke that Taylor Swift was going to be telling hopefuls on “The Voice” to shake off some of those nerves before getting on stage to perform. Today, NBC finally confirmed it.

Is this a big get for the network? It’s hard to argue against success. While Swift may have her fair share of naysayers, she also is one of the most-popular artists in the entire music industry right now. Her albums go significantly above Platinum every time, and she has an enormous social-media following. It also makes sense for Taylor at the same time, given that she does have a new album coming out, and given this one is more pop-oriented than anything else that she is done, she could use the extra promotion outside of that main country base. (This show also has that following as well, thanks to Blake Shelton.)

Swift will be joining the competition for what is supposedly the Knockout Rounds, which is a little confusing given that the format has never been done in exactly this way before. We suppose that the show is combining the star power of the battle rounds, and doing away with the part we hate (the boxing ring performances) in favor of giving singers a chance to do their own thing like the Knockouts should be. If this is all true, this would be the best of both worlds for the show. Now if they could only get rid of the Battle Rounds altogether, we’d be so much happier.

What do you think about Swift’s selection, and do you really care so long as the contestants are interesting? Let us know some of your thoughts right now with a comment! Also, sign up to get some further TV updates on everything we cover at CarterMatt via our newsletter.
