‘The X Factor’ UK: Jack Walton, Andrea Faustini, and nothing else from Mel B’s judges houses

The judges -Like with the Six-Chair Challenge, we’re trying to post most of our “X Factor” stories by category for the judges’ houses. It just makes things less confusing!

Unfortunately, ITV only decided to air two of them tonight, and we’re going to be forced into waiting until tomorrow for the rest. Below are the two singers who performed at Mel B’s “house” in Mexico; to see what we thought about Louis Walsh’s groups and his somewhat-rubbish selections, head over to the link here.

Jack Walton, “Halo” – Mel actually stopped him before he really got going into the performance, and she had him start the performance again. The kid could sing, but he’s just a kid. Why sing this super-mature song? We don’t get some of these people!

Andrea Faustini, “And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going” – We hate this song, and next to maybe the entire catalog of Whitney Houston, it’s the most overdone number and human history. Still, this was one of the best performances of it we’ve heard. Andrea can hit the notes, but it’s about the emotion with him just as much as the music. He’s our favorite to win the competition right now.

We’re going to have to wait and see how the rest of the guys do before we can formulate any complete opinions, but for the time being, it does feel pretty easy to pick Andrea as a finalist. He’s so different than the standard contestant, and while he may not be British, he does possess many qualities that the British public should like. He’s likable, incredibly-talented, and could have a career after the show. He may not be traditional pop, but there’s always a place for someone so magnetic.
