It looks like Gilles Marini was not out of work for very long at all following the sad death of his character Angelo on “Switched at Birth.” Based on the latest intel, he is going to be on board “Devious Maids” for an enormous role moving forward!
Sources confirm that Gilles’ role as Carmen’s new love interest Sebastien, who you first saw in the Lifetime series’ season 2 finale, will be expanded to a regular gig. This is Marini’s first job in this capacity since leaving “Switched at Birth,” and this gives him a chance to play a little bit of a saucier character. Given his heartthrob status, this feels on paper like it would be a much more suitable gig for him. After all, you have to remember here that the guy first found fame appearing in the “Sex and the City” movie.
Marini’s star first started to rise during “Dancing with the Stars,” where he made it all the way to the finale during his first season. He then later came back to participate during the show’s first and only All-Stars season, where he went home a little earlier despite some pretty great scores.
“Devious Maids” was only recently renewed by the network, and it also could use a little bit of a spark that Gilles will hopefully be able to provide. After all, you have to remember here that shows on cable, especially ones that are not picking up awards left and right, do sometimes have a hard time getting some additional publicity for themselves. This is a great way to do that without spending a whole lot of extra marketing money in the process.
