‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Sarah Silverman, Maroon 5 prepare for laughs

SNL -This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” returns for a show that could be fairly hilarious, but could also be a little bit risky. After all, you’ve got a host in Sarah Silverman who really hasn’t been around the show in two decades.

Why bring Sarah on now? We’re still somehow confused by that, even if this move does guarantee that you have a funny woman within the early run of hosts on the show this season. She has some range (did you see her on “Masters of Sex” this season?), and even away from “SNL,” we feel like there were enough sketch elements in “The Sarah Silverman Program” to really make her a good choice … even if we’re still concerned about the poor censors who are going to have to be on standby.

As for the musical guest, Maroon 5 is a group a little more accustomed to this stage. Not only have they performed on the show before, but Adam Levine has actually hosted. While his show wasn’t exactly sensational, we would not be surprised if he pops up in a sketch or two, at least if he really wants to. (Personally, we still have no clue why his co-star on “The Voice” Blake Shelton hasn’t been asked just yet, mostly because that would be a hot mess in all of the right ways.)

We’ll have a full review for the show tomorrow, including video highlights of all that worked, and all that didn’t.
