Tonight, “The Vampire Diaries” really unloaded with all sorts of surprises, beginning with the news that somehow, Damon and Bonnie seem to be stuck in a world complete with Collective Soul music, flannel, and pancakes that have whipped-cream fangs on them. It was a nice little scene to end the episode, but it doesn’t really help us to further understand just where in the world they are.
So will there be some answers soon? It at least sounds that way, at least in terms of where the two characters played by Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham are right now. Speaking per TVLine, executive producer Caroline Dries had the following to say on the subject:
“We’ll figure it out in the next episode … They’re discovering it along with the audience.”
Dries also said that the music choice per the scene really should try to make you wonder about whether or not these characters are in the present or the past, which would be a bizarre and interesting new twist to the show. It also would make it even more like “Lost,” which is something that Somerhalder knows a thing or two about due to his time over there. Heck, he even filled one last episode as Boone while in the midst of production for this show.
While we may know a thing or two more about where these characters are, that does not mean that they are suddenly in the clear. Getting them back to the rest of the cast may take a little more time.
