‘Bones’ season 10, episode 2 reaction: Exec on key Emily Deschanel moment
Tonight, the cast and crew of “Bones” gathered together in order to mourn the loss of Lance Sweets, and as you would expect, it made for some emotional moments. For us, there was really no moment that had us choked up more than watching Brennan give her emotional speech on the hilltop of the small, private ceremony.
Where did this come from, and what was the process of making this happen for Emily Deschanel? In a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Stephen Nathan laid out what the planning process was in making this scene, and how Brennan probably did not even realize what she was going to say before saying it:
“There was nothing formal [about her speech]. It started as just a casual conversation among friends and Brennan, in her usual way, said all the talk about God and religion was nonsense. Once she started speaking I don’t think she knew what she was going to say. She was just trying to explain herself to Booth, and as she did, she opened up in a way that surprised even her. It was all very spontaneous. And there was nothing to be said after that because she was saying what everyone felt.”
While the story regarding the Booth conspiracy may seemingly be over now, we do expect that Daisy’s pregnancy and Booth’s pain are going to both be major stories through the entire first half of the season.
One other key note here? Per Nathan, we can expect Sweets’ wish to come true when it comes to the name of his unborn child.
