Tonight’s “Bones” episode was a chance for the character of Lance Sweets to be put to rest; however, this does not mean that all of the characters have healed completely just yet.
Next week’s episode of the show is entitled “The Purging of the Pundit,” and just from looking at the title itself, you would not have any clue that Booth in particular was suffering. However, that becomes all the clearer courtesy of the new synopsis via Fox:
“With the help of “squintern” Rodolfo Fuentes (guest star Ignacio Serricchio), the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a controversial conservative radio host whose remains were found in a storm drain. When the team discovers some of his extracurricular activities, they come across shocking evidence that narrows down the suspects. Meanwhile, Special Agent James Aubrey (guest star John Boyd) is desperate to gain the trust of Booth, and Brennan is worried about Booth’s psychological well-being after recent events.”
One of the most clever things that Fox has done in promoting this episode, and others recently, has been finding a way to mask the trauma of Sweets’ death with the trauma of what happened with Booth in prison. When we first read this synopsis over a week ago, we honestly did not make anything of it courtesy of the fact that it made since David Boreanaz’s character would be suffering.
Hopefully, we’ll have some more on this episode soon, so be sure to come back for some more insight there.
