‘Bones’ season 10: Did John Francis Daley want to stay on board the show?

Bones Logo -Last week, “Bones” bit a heartfelt farewell to one of the longtime fan favorite characters in Sweets, and it is beyond an understatement to say that this was a hard pill for many longtime fans to swallow.

With that being said, we have to come back today to raise another important question: Was the idea to kill him off something that longtime star John Francis Daley wanted to do? We knew that he wanted to leave to direct the new adaptation of “Vacation,” mostly because it was an opportunity that was so enormous, he could not have possibly done both things at once. However, he tells TVLine that if the stars had aligned, he would have loved to return as the character after the project was over:

“I knew it would be tough, because I was asking for four months off. And I was so happy that they were able to accommodate that. But, yeah, in a perfect world, I would’ve loved to have [completed the movie] and then segue back to the Bones family. I had spoken to Stephen Nathan about it all, and he said it would be more satisfying for the fans to conclude Sweets in a dramatic way rather then for it to be up in the air and have him come back midway through the season.”

Tonight’s new episode should serve as some sort of closure to all who liked the Sweets character, however difficult it might be. He will be put to rest, and we’ll see how Booth and all of the others within the Jeffersonian keep his memory alive moving forward.
