TV Quick Hits: ‘Tonight Show’ + Super Bowl; ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ DVR numbers, renewals
“The Tonight Show” gets super – Jimmy Fallon better be prepared for some unfamiliar settings moving forward. His show is hitting the road!
Following the Super Bowl on February 1, he will be at the Orpheum Theater in Phoenix for an episode of the show that will probably be very football-heavy given that the big game is airing on NBC this year. This is something that Fallon did previously when he was the host of “Late Night,” and the show drew a hefty ratings audience. We’re sure it will here, as well. Following this, he will head back to the old “Tonight Show” stomping grounds of Los Angels for a week of shows at Universal Studios Hollywood.
“You’re the Worst” and “Married” renewed – Just a brief update for those of you who enjoyed these comedies: You will be seeing more of them in the form of 13-episode second seasons. While “Married” will continue its run on FX, “You’re the Worst” is moving over to sister station FXX, otherwise known as the Simpsons Network at this point.
“How to Get Away” with great DVR numbers – Out of the first week, the big winner among new shows is clearly “How To Get Away with Murder.”
The new Shonda Rhimes creation ended up gaining an incredible six million viewers in live+3 data, which means that in total over 20 million watched the pilot. This is the biggest increase in total viewers ever for a show in this measure, which means that “The Blacklist” finally has some competition there. It also added a 1.9 rating to its demo audience, which is more than some shows Monday like “Sleepy Hollow” actually delivered live.
