ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7, episode 2 preview: Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, ‘Montreal,’ and what’s next

The latest -Tonight was an emotional gut-punch on “Castle,” but thanks to its super-secretive nature, details about the second episode of season 7 are a little sketchier than they would otherwise be.

ABC has not released a synopsis for “Montreal” yet, and are basically trying to get you to use your imagination based on where tonight ended. We know that Castle was gone for two months, but we still don’t entirely know why. It appeared at first like the man kidnapped himself, but that wasn’t entirely true.

So ultimately, what we’re left with now are questions that will hopefully be answered during this episode. Clearly, there is something far greater at work here than what we or anyone understands right now, and it will be tied heavily to Rick’s past. Hopefully, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic will have a chance to do some cool things here moving forward.

So while there are not a whole lot of answers about anything right now, what you can still feel very good about is the sole fact that showrunner David Amann and creator Andrew W. Marlowe have opened up multiple new doors to explore. The little clues throughout the episode really make for more of an old-fashioned whodunnit than anything the show has done in a long time, and they are making it last more than one episode.

Oh, and “Montreal” also has a story in it about the murder of a toy company owner … which we are really hoping is something more than it seems right now.
