‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6 premiere review: The Kensi, Talia fight you don’t want to miss

Last season of “NCIS: Los Angeles” left fans with an interesting new dynamic between Kensi and Deeks when another woman (Talia) entered the picture. We saw both women acting jealous, trying to one up each other and get Deeks’ attention. Kensi is not ready to tip her hat and show Deeks’ just how much she cares for him, so she is in a bad situation to say the least… especially since Talia isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Things picked up right where they left off in season 5: Sam and Callen are still trapped in the submarine headed to the bottom of the ocean with very little chance of getting out and the team left clueless as to how to help them.

Sam and Callen figure out that they can cut down on the power to the sub through their batteries, but after they do, the captain cuts off the air to the cabin to kill Sam and Callen to get into the room where they power source is.  They learn through the captain that this is a suicide mission headed for San Diego and Sam and Callen are coming along for the ride.

Hetty is headed to Washington, but when she finds out about Sam and Callen, she has the car turned around to see if she can help, but the Navy has orders to destroy the submarine to stop it from blowing up and hurting hundreds of people.

After a few clever tactics, Sam and Callen are able to force their captors to open the door to the cabin and they are able to not only escape (they actually held their breath and swam to the surface), but also leave the submarine to be destroyed by the Navy.

Talia’s presence is making things very tense between Kensi and Deeks. Talia calls Kensi out on being in love with Deeks, and when she denies it there is a pretty heated exchange of words between the ladies right before Kensi heads butts Talia in the nose telling her to stay away from Deeks. If it was clear before what Kensi’s feelings were… it is clear now. What was interesting was that after the fight, Talia and Kensi are on better terms with each other now.

We loved that the show threw us right back into the action without missing a beat and didn’t give us some sort of time jump with an explanation of what happened. More then that it was great to have Talia as part of the premiere to help stir the pot with Kensi and Deeks – hopefully it will bring their feelings to the forefront and we will see more movement on this story this season. Episode grade: B
