‘Ray Donovan’ season 2 finale: Is Mickey or Ray gone for good?

Ray Donovan -The second season of “Ray Donovan” came to a conclusion on Sunday night, and after watching it, there’s really one question we have to wonder: Did the show really want to give us a cliffhanger?

It was almost like the show was able to predict so many creative changes behind the scenes, given that the story wrapped up in a way that left almost every major thread when it comes to the story wide open. There are questions aplenty regarding what happens with Ray’s family, but Mickey seems to have a chance to run away and never look back now. Somehow, he yet again weaseled his way out of this alive, while others like Cochran and Kate earlier this season met different, varying fates.

Seemingly, the show will have to come up with a new way to establish Mickey as a part of the show moving forward, and after what happened with Cookie tonight, it feels like the Donovan family can at least temporarily move forward.

Structurally, there was still hardly no reason to be upset over the finale. It moved along at a pretty insane pace, and brought with it a number of key moments left and right. The past few episodes have all been action-packed, with the only real criticism we had being that we wish that there was a little less of a mob feel throughout this entire Kate story. (Then again, we could say that about “Ray Donovan” as a whole. Sometimes, it tries a little too hard to be like the West Coast version of “The Sopranos.”)
