‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Nina Dobrev comes over from ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Nina Dobrev -When we think of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” crossing over, we typically think of the former show getting visits from Klaus and company. However, not when it comes to this particular story that we are talking about today!

“The Originals” is actually about get a huge boost for its upcoming second season, at least when it comes to getting Nina Dobrev to come over from the original series for a gig. As for who she will be playing, it is yet another Petrova doppelganger who goes by the name of Tatia. This was a character first referenced back during the third season of the show, but the story never really went anywhere until now.

Speaking to E! News (who first reported the story), executive producer Julie Plec had the following to say about getting to see the fourth iteration of Elena on the popular series:

“[Klaus and Elijah] both loved her, so it’s a little bit of history repeating itself like with Stefan and Damon … The character of Tatia is part of their history. … It’s something we brought up a long time ago and never paid off.”

We are interested to see how this plays out, but only so far as we like to see things shaken up. We’re really not that crazy about the idea of seeing yet another doppelganger on a show that has already drowned itself in them over the years. This was one of the things we really did not love about season 5 of “The Vampire Diaries,” which went a little out of control.
