‘Big Brother 16’ finale exclusive: Cody Calafiore on Frankie, bitter jurors, and more
Throughout “Big Brother 16,” Cody Calafiore was working alongside Derrick Levasseur in the two-person alliance entitled the Hitmen, but in the end, his decision to not make a hit on his friend cost him the $500,000.
While we were able to hear part of Cody’s backyard interview last night from another outlet (see all of that and more here), we had a chance to chat with him today to get some more insight into things.
CarterMatt – The morning after the end of the season, how are you feeling about your game?
Cody Calafiore – I’m feeling good still. I’m finding out about a lot of this stuff like Team America, and that stuff’s insane that it was going on. Even more insane that it was literally the person I was working with for the entire game. It was still fun, love the fact that I got all the way to the end with the person that I got with the second day. The result obviously isn’t what I wanted, but I think that Derrick’s very deserving of it and I’m not going to take any credit away from him.
Do you wish you had been a part of Team America, just to be in the know or to have something else to do in the game?
I wish I had been a part of it for a little extra cash, that would have been phenomenal given that I went to the final two, as well … A lot of different things would have been fun to be a part of, but I think that the three chosen as America’s players were pretty funny. I thought it was a good trio.
Do you wish that the jury gave you a little more credit over some of your moves?
I absolutely do. I mean, calling me the puppet when Derrick took all of the information that I literally pulled from everybody, and that’s how we made our decisions? I wouldn’t call that a puppet. Somebody who is getting information. I think it was a lot of people being bitter, and I think a lot of the jury didn’t want to credit me because in goodbye messages I wasn’t crushing anybody. I didn’t want to boast. It was not part of my game to try to throw it someone’s face, and it would have been out of character.
I don’t think any of them had a clue that it was me who had a large part in a lot of them going home, but you know what? That’s a fault in my own game, and Derrick seemed to be exploiting that fault that I was having and cleaning up … I was trying to keep it as close to Derrick to keep it as loyal as I could, this is Big Brother, so maybe I should’ve done that.
Let’s talk about Frankie here, because he may have been one of the most bitter towards you. We saw some of how he was acting before he left, talking about how he was going to send social media to [attack you guys].
He thought he was bigger than the game. He thought he was bigger than every other player, and he didn’t realize that his social game was literally so easy to read that I was playing off of him for three weeks, turning everyone against him until I was able to get him out. I mean, he had no idea that he was going on.
The fact that he won comps, I will never hold that against him. But when it got to crunch-time and he needed to win comps to stay, he just couldn’t pull it out. I thought he had a bigger head than his game.
There were some votes I was surprised you didn’t get, but one I was surprised you did was Donny. What was your reaction to that?
Donny is loyal, and a very genuine, very nice guy. He said in the beginning that he would vote for me, and I think he just stuck to it. He is a very good guy … I wasn’t really surprised that I got Donny’s vote.
How are you adjusting to life outside of the game? What are you going to do next, now that you are out?
Honestly, I have no idea. There’s no telling what I’m going to do next. I left a lot at home, I left my job. I know I have a lot of openings moving forward, so I’m excited to see where things [pan out].
In watching the episodes, what are you the most excited in least excited to see?
I can’t wait to see to Zach Rance, and see how that was presented on TV. You could tell how much people loved him, and I know if I was outside of the game, he probably would have been a character I was obsessed with.
Other than that, I know some people were saying some bitter things about me, saying some things that I wouldn’t like in the game of ‘Big Brother.’ I know I wasn’t saying nice things all the time. It’s not always easy to be nice. It’ll be fun to watch, but definitely won’t be holding any grudges towards anybody.
One last thing: Any plays to dress up as a dinosaur for Halloween now?
Oh absolutely. Dino’s coming back, hard!

I never ever want to see Frankie the butt head on tv again.. He needs to keep following his sister around so he can get some of that attention… Leave the rest of us alone.

Cody is a guy with class and keeping his word is something that makes him one of the greatest BB competitors ever. You can count the number of competitors on one hand that would have kept their word like he did with Derrick.

Frankie is a malignant narcissist. . .I would imagine his denial antenna nearly split when he found out his Joker rating was the lowest among all the HGs . . .even lower than the imbecile Devin. . .
