For those of you who love your fair share of Salvatore flashback scenes on “The Vampire Diaries,” and also love your fair share of new eras to explore, we have great news coming on both fronts today! Even though Damon (Ian Somerhalder) may be sort-of-dead at the moment, they’ve still found a way to ensure that he will have some scenes with Stefan (Paul Wesley) at some point during the first portion of season 6.
This good news was confirmed by executive producer Caroline Dries; while she was somewhat coy in a new interview with E! News, she gave us enough of a sense about what to expect for us to remain excited:
“There are flashbacks coming up … But we will see an era we haven’t seen before in flashbacks and it will help tie together a bunch of storylines.”
While in some shows we really are not a big fan of these, we actually rather like them in the context of this show. Damon and Stefan have been through so much more than we know, and it is rather fun to dive into that world a little bit every cope of months and figure out more of what happened to them. Plus, the show always finds a way to ensure that they tie back into the story somehow.
The new season premieres on The CW come Thursday, October 2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. We will have some further updates very soon.
