‘Masters of Sex’ season 2 finale spoilers: Michael Sheen, Lizzy Caplan, and a big break
Next week, the season 2 finale of “Masters of Sex” is going to air, and we have one major question going into this: Is it going to be the huge breakthrough for Bill and Virginia that they have long been hoping for? Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan’s characters spent most of season 2 suffering, and they are close to a personal breakthrough.
For a great example of that, the TV Guide synopsis for this episode reads as follows:
“Season 2 ends with Masters and Johnson passing the results of their studies on to the world.”
The unfortunate thing for these characters is that there is really something so much greater happening within the span of this episode, especially when it comes to the relationship standpoint. The hot-and-cold bond between Virginia and Bill may turn cold again by the time the finale ends, and he makes it more than a little clear that he cares more about her at this point than his own wife Libby.
Then again, Libby is giving in to her own desires to be with someone else, and she may at this point be feeling the same way. This marriage is in shambles on all fronts, but is this the episode where all parties are going to finally step forward and be honest. It feels like there are few other options tat this point, and exciting as this story has been, we are not quite sure we could survive another year of watching Bill and Libby together, knowing that it is destined to fail in the end.
