‘Gotham’ series premiere spoilers: Watch James Gordon meet Bruce Wayne

Tomorrow night, one of the most-anticipated new shows of the fall season is here in “Gotham,” and we are entering it with one question first and foremost: Will this show be any good?

One of the elements of the show that it will desperately have to get right is the relationship between James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), and the sneak peek video below focuses on that first and foremost. The irony here is that this is a case that Gordon’s partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) did not even want. He figured out that the high-profile nature was something he really did not want to deal with, but it was too late for him, given that by the time he figured out who the victims were in Bruce’s parents, Gordon was already on the scene.

James does manage to get Bruce to open up, but is unable to really do much other than quiver in fear of what happened. This is where Gordon uses some of those interpersonal skills to relate to what the young child is going through emotionally. He recognizes that this must be a traumatic time in his life, and he wants to do everything that he can in order to help him … if it’s possible.

Bruce may not have the largest of roles in the pilot, but he is a regular character on the show. Therefore, expect him to be a major presence in Gordon’s life, and for this to be one of many conversations the two share throughout the series’ run on TV.
