There are a variety of different things worth looking forward to when it comes to “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” but one of the more interesting and challenging roles has to be Sarah Paulson as Bette and Dot. How can it not be when you are talking about two separate characters who share the same body?
Also, you have to add in here that their personalities may also be just as interesting and worth discussion as the obvious reason that they stand out physically. Paulson spoke a little to Entertainment Weekly about her characters, and she made it clear that when Elsa (Jessica Lange) first finds the two of them, they may not be in the best overall place:
“Bette and Dot might be responsible for some dark things. When they’re discovered, Elsa in a way, even though it may not appear to be that in the beginning kind of saves them from what may befall them because of their dark deeds. Elsa at least in the beginning seems to be offering them an alternative to what would have happened if they were left where they were found.”
We’re interested mostly in seeing how these two are going to be getting along with many of the other freak-show characters who are going to be present. After all, many of the other primary members of this show are going to be tied together in some way, whether it be by marriage, blood, or something else. She stands out from the mold somewhat, but not in a terrible way like the infamous Big Bad Twisty the Clown.
